As the COVID-19 cases in Delhi continue to spiral out of control Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government will give pulse oximeters to the patients under home isolation in the city to keep a track on their oxygen levels.
"The patients can return them after recovery. They can call up the authorities when their oxygen levels are low, and a team will go to their house with oxygen cylinders. If required, they can be shifted to the hospital," Kejriwal said.?
There are around 12,000 people under home isolation in Delhi.?
?Addressing an online media briefing, the Chief Minister said that as many as 18,000 COVID-19 tests are being conducted daily in the city.?
"We have tripled the testing in Delhi. Earlier, merely 5,000 tests were being conducted, which have now gone up to 18,000 daily."Kejriwal said that over 5,300 beds were occupied in the hospital on June 12, which have now increased to 6,200.?
"In 10 days only 900 beds were taken up by the patients, which is a positive sign. There are less serious cases and more asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients, who do not require hospitalization," he added.?
He asserted that Delhi witnessed merely 1,000 fresh cases in the last one week. "The situation appears to be stabilising. It indicates that while new cases are coming up, people are also getting cured from the disease."He also warned that strict action has been taken against unscrupulous labs who were giving incorrect test results earlier.?
Kejriwal also said that the nation is fighting two "wars" against China, one at the border and another with coronavirus which originated there."Today we are fighting two wars against China - one at the border and another against the virus from China. Our 20 brave soldiers did not back down, we will also not retreat until we win both the wars."?
?"Our doctors, nurses, and soldiers are all fighting and the people of the country are standing beside them. The entire country has to fight at both the fronts united. This should not be politicised. We have to fight against China and coronavirus," Kejriwal said.?
This comes as Delhi overtook Tamil Nadu as the state with the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases after Maharashtra. The number of COVID-19 cases in the city has risen to 59,746 out of which 24,558 are active and so far the Delhi has seen 2,175 deaths.??
