Delhi Is Turning The Tides With Close To One Lakh COVID Recoveries, That Is Almost 82 Per Cent
In June the Delhi Government had its work cut out after an expert committee predicted that by the end of July there will be around 5.5 lakh COVID-19 cases in the national capital, for which 80,000 beds would be needed.
What followed was unprecedented steps including trying to limit COVID-19 treatment in the national capital only for Delhi residents and even trying to convert small nursing homes into COVID-19 care centers.
But halfway into July, when the cases were predicted to be 2.5 lakhs, the national capital has 1,16,993 - almost half of the estimated figure.
While it is good news, what is even more impressive is the number of patients recovering from COVID-19 in Delhi.
Delhi's Covid Recovery Rate
As of Thursday morning, a total of 95,699 COVID-19 patients have recovered. This 81. 79 percent of all the cases reported in Delhi so far.
Only 17,807 COVID-19 patients are under treatment, out of which 6217 are hospitalized while the remaining 9943 are under home isolation.
The infection rate in the national capital has also slowed down considerably and for five days the number of new daily infections was less than 2,000.
Arvind Kejriwal thanks everyone?
On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has come out and thanked each and every stakeholder for the commendable contribution in that regard.
¡°As per estimates, 2.25 lakh cases were predicted by July 15 in Delhi but after united efforts, the cases today are half of the prediction. Today we have 1.15 lakh cases,¡± Kejriwal said.
He further said that if the Delhi Government had decided to battle Covid-19 pandemic alone, it would have failed. ¡°That is why we went to everyone including central government, NGOs and religious organisations. I thank all parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. I thank the 2 crore people of Delhi and the Corona Warriors,¡± the Delhi CM said.
He said that, earlier, it was estimated that around 35,000 beds would be required in Delhi. But, today only 4,000 beds are needed in the national capital based on the current rate of infection.
¡°On June 1, there were 4,100 beds in Delhi¡today there are 15,500 beds and 2,100 ICU beds, of which 1,100 are vacant. Because of this, today people have the confidence that in case they need to be hospitalised, there will be no shortages¡ The situation seems to be under control today. We are ready for the future too,¡± Kejriwal said.
Not so long ago, the Delhi government, which was anticipating the worst-case scenario was planning to convert several large stadiums into COVID-19 care facilities, which has now been put on hold.
