A fisherman from Greenland has netted an unusual creature, to say the least, after he caught a fish that has three eyes. Photos shared on social media showed the fish with three eyes¡ªone each on the left and right sides, and a third one on top of its head. It is still unclear when and where the bizarre-looking fish was caught.
But the photo posted on the r/Europe subreddit has taken Reddit by storm, with many wondering how the fish managed to survive for so long. Many also wondered if all its three eyes were functional and, if so, how it could see things.

"What's more than likely is that one of the three is not working properly. You can see the fish is suffering from exophthalmia on the left eye; my guess is it's probably not functional. It could even be the case that 2 out of 3 are not functional. I have seen many deformities with fish, and in most cases, the 'extra bit' was not functional," one Reddit user wrote.
As the photo went viral, many also compared the bizarre creature to Blinky from The Simpsons. Blinky the Three-Eyed Fish (or just Blinky) was featured in two episodes of The Simpsons in 1990¡ª"Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish."
Blinky was described as a three-eyed orange fish species, found in the ponds and lakes outside the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, and it mutated due to radiation.
"Took a few decades, but The Simpsons nailed another one," said a Reddit user, while another wondered if the fish had visited Springfield.

While it is unclear what caused the mutation in the fish caught in Greenland, it should be noted that in 2023, an Argentinian fisherman had caught a mutant wolf fish in a reservoir fed by a local nuclear power plant.
