In September, GTech had assisted with money to refurbish six boats which were damaged during the flood relief initiatives undertaken by the fishermen themselves.?
¡°We had visited Alappad and Azeekkal in September to hand over financial aid. The fishermen of this locality had proactively and selflessly sprung into action to save people from the rising waters. The sail through the floodwaters had caused damage to their boats to the extent that they had become unusable. GTech reached out to the community during the first week of September and within a couple of weeks, six fishing boats were able to set back into the sea. Now, altogether we are contributing 20 refurbished fishing boats to the fishermen community,¡± said a statement issued by GTech and quoted by TOI.
GTech had organised a cultural event at Sports Hub to raise fund for the initiative and around Rs 1 crore was raised. GTech has pledged to give Rs 25 crore for flood relief and rehabilitation.
