Forest officials rescued a leopard in Dharamsala that was trapped in a noose. It happened in a place called Fatehpur, as per a report in ANI.?
When it was spotted, the officials came to the rescue. They freed the animal and an FIR is also going to be lodged.?
The leopard shall get a medical check-up at a zoo to make sure it is in good health.
Anil Thakur, Chief Conservator of the Forest Department said that the leopard will be treated at the Gopalpur Zoo.?
"The leopard was trapped by a noose and was set free by officials here. We face about 10 to 12 such cases every year. We are currently training our field staff on tranquilizer guns and got a good opportunity to show them how to use them practically. We also guide people to take care of wild animals and not to get involved in such criminal activities," he said.?
On this occasion the leopard was lucky. Officials will be on the lookout for who is setting such traps and take them into custody as soon as possible.?
As their territory declines due to our advancement, the danger of losing out on these magnificent beasts is high. One hopes that things do not get that bad.
