The smokers may not like it but the health ministry is looking to issue a new set of enhanced pictorial and text warning and is also planning to make it mandatory for tobacco companies to print a national toll-free helpline number on packets of tobacco products.
The toll free number will help the tobacco users to get information and free support to subdue their addiction. The National Tobacco Cessation QuitLine-1800 227787 will also act as a rehab and will encourage people to quit tobacco.
The health ministry is trying to influence people to stop tobacco consumption by these new set of pictures and text warnings. The ministry wants to understand the reaction of consumers.?
¡°The aim of the exercise is to find out if the new set of pictures and text warnings are impactful or not. Our teams are going to people and taking their suggestions. We are also planning to print the National Tobacco Cessation QuitLine number (1800-22-77-87) on packets,¡± said a senior health ministry official.
