We are 9 days into the 3-week lockdown that India is under due to the coronavirus pandemic and let's be honest, it is getting on our nerves. But all the while we know it is in our best interests as the nation tries to combat the pandemic. India in in lockdown till April 14, and until now there is no word if the lockdown shall extend or not, or if some restrictions shall be lifted while others in place.??
Of course nothing is certain, but as of now one cannot use public transport and all public places are closed. But one question must be surely bugging us. What happens if we violate the lockdown? And what about those spreading rumours and false information which is leading to panic? Is there any punishment? The answer is yes. After all, at a time like this such lack of moral sense cannot be tolerated.?
According to Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, anybody obstructing enforcement of lockdown could be punishable for jail term of up to 2 years. But that's not all. He also added that anyone making false claim on any matter can be punished up to 2 years of jail with fine and laws.?
This comes as a good move because people have spread false info and violated the lockdown at times for the worst possible reasons. An emergency is understandable, but to meet a friend or relative or just a joyride? Like seriously??
Stay indoors folks and do not spread unverified information. It's for your safety and the safety of others. Because remember, if you break the rules, there will be consequences.
