Last week, the United States deported 104 Indian nationals who had entered the country illegally back to India. Out of the 104 deportees, 33 each were from Gujarat and Haryana, and 30 were from Punjab.
The deportees, who took the dunki route to enter the US, had spent their life savings to fund their American Dream. But this has now been shattered, and families who raised Rs 40-50 lakh by selling their farmland and other assets, with the hope that their kin would be able to earn much more in the US, are now looking at a bleak future.
But one man seems to have turned it into an opportunity and is attempting to rebuild his life while not shying away from the fact that he was deported by the US.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a Punjab man, purportedly deported from the US, is seen pasting a sticker on his auto-rickshaw reading 'deport by USA'.
Many on social media appreciated his spirit of not giving up despite the setbacks, while some noted that he turned a crisis into an opportunity by displaying his deportee status on his auto.
Others, however, made fun of him, saying grammar was one of the reasons for his deportation as he wrote 'deport by USA' instead of 'deported'.

Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities in states including Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat have started action against human traffickers who lure people with promises of taking them to the US safely.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Punjab Police on Monday said it has taken action to dismantle the multinational human trafficking nexus operating in the region.
In Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the government is taking immediate action against travel agents responsible for duping young people by sending them abroad through 'dunki routes', adding that the state government will soon introduce a law against illegal immigration.
