A woman in her late 30s was hacked to death by her jilted lover in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, sending shockwaves across the capital city.?While standing near a shop, Sindhu was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon and brutally killed by the 46-year-old man, identified as Rajesh, reported PTI.?
Sindhu suffered critical injuries on the neck, head and hands and was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital by police. However, her life could not be saved.?
Rajesh had been living with Sindhu, a native of Vazhayila, for the past 12 years after leaving his family in Pathanamthitta.?
The police said they had altercations in due course of time and Sindhu shifted to another house recently. Cops believe this development might have prompted Rajesh to commit the brutal act.?The spat between the partners allegedly regarded financial dealings, India Today reported. Moreover, Rajesh reportedly had an issue with her going to work.?
Rajesh had met Sindhu on Thursday to resolve the issue, but the conversation went south and he hacked Sindu to death in broad daylight in the presence of other people on the road.?
"He boarded the same bus in which the woman was travelling in the morning. They had some conversation in between and both got off at the same stop. In a fit of anger, he hacked her with a weapon when she was standing near a shop," a cop told PTI.?
The incident took place around 9 am in public as the woman was walking along the road leading from Peroorkada to Vazhayila. As per a TNIE report, Rajesh came to the spot on a two-wheeler and hacked the woman using a machete.?
"The first strike was on her neck. As she cried for help at the top of her voice, the man struck her on her head next after which she collapsed to the ground. He did not stop even then and continued hacking her, " an eyewitness told the publication.Upon this, a group of youngsters restrained Rajesh, who had fled to a nearby locality and handed him over to the police.?
After being taken into custody, Rajesh admitted to the crime. Police registered a case under Sections 302 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him.? ?
Several shocking killings have been reported in the country in the last couple of months. In November 2022, Delhi police arrested Aaftab Poonawala on charges of killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and disposing of her body by chopping it into 35 pieces.
Later in the same month, it was reported that a man was killed in Delhi and his body was chopped into 22 pieces and some parts were stored in the fridge. Delhi Police crime branch arrested a woman in Pandav Nagar for allegedly murdering her husband with the help of her son from a previous marriage.?
In December, a woman in Bihar died after a man chopped off her breasts, hands, legs and ears and gouged out her eyes. The accused used a sharp weapon to commit the crime at a crowded market in broad daylight.
