A school in Bihar's Jamui district has gained attention as its principal, Sheela Hembram, has reportedly turned an office-room into a makeshift "bedroom-cum-kitchen" for herself and her family.?
According to a TOI report, the principal claimed that her family was currently homeless, as they were in the process of building a new house in a nearby village. However, the decision to use the school office in this manner has raised eyebrows, prompting local authorities to launch an inquiry into the matter.
The Upgraded Middle School at Bardaun, located in the Maoist-affected Khaira block, accommodates 150 students from Class I to VIII.?
Due to the constrained space resulting from the principal's use of the office, classes are now being conducted in just three rooms. Classes I-III are held in one room, IV-V in another, and VI-VIII in a third.
The principal acknowledged that the use of the office room was intended as a temporary measure until her new house was completed. However, with objections raised by the public and the matter gaining public attention after viral photos, the district education officer, Kapil Deo Tiwari, initiated an inquiry. Tiwari stated that appropriate action would be taken if the allegations were found to be true.
Parents expressed concern about the impact on their children's concentration, as multiple classes were being held in a single room. The situation has sparked debate about the appropriateness of using school facilities for personal purposes, leading to calls for resolution and proper management of educational spaces.
