Pre-wedding shoots and 'save the date' videos can be romantic and even fun. And it is not uncommon for couples to have their pre-wedding videos shot at their workplaces.
But one such pre-wedding video shoot ended up backfiring and costing the groom his job.
A doctor, identified only by his first name, Abhishek has been dismissed from service by the Karnataka Government after his pre-wedding shoot caused massive outrage.
Dr. Abhishek, a contract physician posted at the Government Hospital in Bharamasagar in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka was dismissed after he and his fiancee conducted a 'surgery' inside the Operation Theatre (OT) as part of their pre-wedding shoot.
In the video that has gone viral online, Dr. Abhishek who is dressed in surgical attire can be seen performing a 'surgery' on a patient. He is assisted by his fiancee who is also dressed in surgical attire.
They are accompanied by a few cameramen and light boys. As they completed the shoot, everyone including the 'operated' patient, the doctors and the camera crew can be seen breaking into a laugh.
After the video went viral, the Health Department issued a notice to the Hospital authorities, who clarified that the pre-wedding shoot was done inside an unused Operation Theatre.
However, taking note of the incident, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Friday terminated a doctor from service.
"Government hospitals are meant for serving the public, not for personal engagements. I will not tolerate such indiscipline. All doctors, staff and contract employees will have to discharge their duties as per the guidelines. I have already directed the concerned doctors and authorities not to misuse the premises of government hospitals," the minister said.
The minister further said everyone should focus on performing their duty knowing that the facilities provided by the government to such medical facilities are for health care of the common people.
According to reports, Dr. Abhishek had taken charge as a health officer at the hospital only one month ago.
