The massive plant that's ready to provide energy?is 100 kWp big and floats on 6,000 square metres of the water surface of the reservoir.?
This project took more than a year and a half to complete and cost?Rs 9.25 crore.?
All the solar photovoltaic panels of this floating solar farm have been installed on 18 floating platforms, that are made of ferrocement floaters.?

"The installation works of the floating solar panels are over and the plant will be ready for inauguration soon," said Manoharan P, an assistant executive engineer at the KSEB research and dam safety sub-division, Thariyode, reports The Times Of India.?
The project is now being looked at as the largest floating solar panel setup in the country. This plant will be able to produce nearly 7.5 lakh units of power annually and will transfer it to nearby areas using underwater cables.?

"We have used high-efficiency solar panels for the project as per KSEB stipulations. Also, we have set up a floating substation on the reservoir to convert the output into 11kV considering economic and safety aspects," said Raveendran T Nair, Vice-President (projects) of Adtech Systems Ltd.
According to the authorities, the said plant will be able to produce more energy in comparison to other instalments?in the country because of the fluctuating effect of water bodies on the panel temperature.?
"Also, when compared to ground-based units, the floating panels will accumulate lower concentration of dust," he said.
