Meanwhile, police have detained six persons including a Congress councillor Satish Patel in connection with the lynching. Patel is a municipal councillor of Vadod area in Pandesara.?
Initially, police invoked rioting, attempt to murder charges against the accused, but later added murder charge after the victim succumbed to his injuries.?
The complaint against the accused was filed at Pandesara police station by one Sujit Singh, Pandit's friend and a textile businessman.?
According to the FIR, both Pandit and Sujith Singh had gone to meet their friend in Bhestan on Saturday night. When the two men were returning home in Sachin area on a motorbike, they took a wrong turn and reached Bhairavnagar. The duo were stopped by Satish Patel and others and accused them of being thieves.?
