Maharashtra is projected to have a shortage of ICU beds on August 8, while it may run out of ventilators by July 27, the Centre said, raising red flags.
The state government is working hard towards containing the virus in several parts of Maharashtra.
Earlier this week, the Maharashtra government had urged the Centre to resume suburban train services for people engaged in providing emergency services, like hospital nurses, ward boys, civic body staffers, conservancy and support staff. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region comprising Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, and Raigad districts depends on the suburban trains.??

The government also clarified that the lockdown in the state will not be extended.
At present, the lockdown is imposed in the state till June 30.
"Lockdown will not be re-announced. Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has requested and appealed to the people not to crowd anywhere. Follow the instructions given by the government and take care of yourself," the Maharashtra CMO tweeted.
Earlier, Thackeray had said that lockdown could be re-imposed again if the relaxation to the COVID-19 lockdown turns out to be risky.
