A 23-year-old man was fatally beaten after being tied to a tree because it was suspected he stole a mobile phone as per a TNN report. It happened in West Delhi's Naraina. Police said 4 people were taken into custody.?
The tragedy took place on August 27 when a person called Rahul was caught by a group in Nariana Loha Mandi. They alleged he stole a mobile kept in a truck that was parked in Loha Mandi. They also believed his accomplice escaped with it after helping him do the deed.?
People including truck drivers tied him with a tree and beat him with sticks and rods. He later succumbed to his injuries.?
Police said that when they reached the spot after receiving a call, they found him lying under a tree, having injury marks all over the body and also recovered a rope and a white muffler from the spot.?
An eye witness said that when he woke up on Friday morning, he found that his neighbours Mustaq, Shiraj Ahmad, Anis Ahmed and Ishtihar were beating him up badly after tying him to the tree.?
He also told the police that when he tried to intervene the accused did not listen to him. They told the eyewitness that Rahul and his associates had stolen their mobile phone from the truck and that his associate had run away with the mobile phone.?
The Police said that the accused were identified, they launched a search and nabbed them on August 28 late night.?
The Police also said that all disclosed that Rahul and his associate had stolen the mobile phone of Shiraj Ahmed from his vehicle truck but they caught him and took him to the adjoining park of their jhuggi and tied him to a tree and beat him. After seeing his deteriorated condition, they ran away from the spot, said the police.?
Police also said Rahul had a previous criminal record of thefts. The police is further investigating the case.?
