A house hunter in Rajendra Nagar, Delhi, ignited a discussion on social media after posting a picture of a room his broker attempted to rent for Rs 10,000 a month. Shared by X user Rishabh Tiwari, the photo revealed a small, cramped space that the broker described as "premium quality." This assertion raised eyebrows online, with many questioning the high rent given the room's size and lack of proper ventilation.
Tiwari shared his frustration on the platform, writing, "This is a premium quality ?10,000/month room in Old Rajendra Nagar as per the broker. Somebody please help me find a room." His post quickly garnered attention, eliciting a range of responses from fellow users.
In a follow-up message, Tiwari explained, "I haven¡¯t booked this room as it will be suffocating. If anyone has a good room in the same 10K budget near or in Patel Nagar, feel free to help me."
Comments from other users highlighted the room's deficiencies. One individual remarked, "That¡¯s insane. The owners must be witches. There is no window to that room." Tiwari responded, "It¡¯s a basement. If you look at the other rooms, you will get paranoid, and the best part is that he is acting like he is doing me a favour."
Another user advised, "Leave this room ASAP. There¡¯s no ventilation here." Tiwari confirmed, "Didn¡¯t book it."
"Rajendra is in close vicinity of major coachings. They'll keep the price high, you can look outside Rajendra Nagar, you'll find very cheap and cozy rooms," one user stated.
The conversation also touched on the broader issue of increasing rental prices in the area. One user commented, "It has become really expensive at Rajender Nagar now, as far as I know, and have heard." Another suggested exploring other neighborhoods, stating, "Don¡¯t go for old Rajendra Nagar. It is so inflated there. Try for Patel Nagar, etc., or a bit away. Metro is there already, so it won't take more than 10 mins to travel."
Tiwari, who is a UPSC aspirant, also clarified that he is new to Delhi and even thanked people for helping him out.
"I am really greatful to all the comments and DMs I got trying to help me, you guys are best. I have found a guy who has experience in living here, he told me he will find flat in 18-20K budget with 2 separate rooms and then inform me as he has many contacts here. Now we wait," Tiwari wrote in another tweet.
