¡°A cop¡¯s job is not to sit in office but active field work for which fitness is a basic requirement. We found that obesity, especially central obesity, plagued many cops which can compromise chasing offenders,¡± said Yadav.
A tailor-made three month programme has been designed for cops in tie-up with multiple hospitals.
¡®Weight-loss will be medically supervised¡¯
Ashok Yadav said, ¡°The weight-loss will be medically supervised wherein specific diet and exercise plans will be given. The target given is to get rid of lard and bring waists whittling down to 36 inches."Cops who will meet this target will be awarded a cash incentive of Rs 2,000!
City police commissioner AK Singh said the weight-loss mission is part of the overall project to better cop health.

It needs mention that growing stress levels, irregular working hours and eating habits have led to large number of cops suffering from lifestyle diseases namely diabetes, hyper-tension and heart disease. In fact, recently many cops were pulled up for lack of fitness and asked to lose weight or lose field postings.
K B Vihol, PSI of Ring Road chowky, Odhav weighed 88 kg at 172 cm height. "I have lost three kg by just walking and eating regular home-made meals. Small measures help",says Vihol. Jaswantsinh Ratansinh, who weighed 78kg at 168cm height, has lost five kg in three months."Erratic duty hours can take a toll but nothing is impossible with bit of discipline," said the cop.
