As shocking as it may sound, it has emerged that the family of India¡¯s former President late Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed¡¯s brother have been left out from the draft National Register of Citizens (NRC) which was published on Monday.?
According to a News 18 report, Ziauddin, the son of Fakhruddin¡¯s brother Ekramuddin Ali Ahmed is among the nearly 40 lakhs whose names have not been featured in the final draft.?
The family has been living in Rangia, in Kamrup district of Assam.?

¡°I am the nephew of former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, and my name is missing in the NRC, since my father¡¯s name is not in the legacy data, we are little worried about it,¡± Ziauddin Ali Ahmed told News 18.
He now like others will have to submit an individual letter to make the claim to get his name featured in the final list which will be published in December.

Those who don't feature in the final draft have been given time till September 28 to challenge the exclusions.
A total of 2.9 crore names out of the total 3.29 crore applicants have been featured in the registry which was launched to identify illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
