The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has denied reports that old currency notes will become invalid March onwards this year.
In a Twitter statement, the RBI clarified the media reports on withdrawal of old series of banknotes of Rs 5, Rs 10 and Rs 100 from circulation were incorrect.
¡°With regard to reports in certain sections of media on withdrawal of old series of Rs 100, Rs 10 & Rs 5 banknotes from circulation in near future, it is clarified that such reports are incorrect,¡± the central bank said in a statement on Twitter.
The fact-checking arm of Press Information Bureau's (PIB), PIB Fact Check, also clarified that reports claiming the same are false as there is no such plans for demonetising the said currency notes.?
