In a daring case of money heist, four armed men looted cash and jewellery estimated to be worth over Rs 12 crore from a non-banking finance company (NBFC) in Odisha.
The incident was reported from the branch of IIFL Finance in the city of Cuttack on Thursday morning.
According to the police, the four masked men entered inside the building sometime after the office had opened and locked up the staff inside the toilet at gunpoint.
They then forced the staff to hand over the keys to the locker and before anyone could do anything the gunmen fled with whatever valuables they could grab.
All of this happened in less than 15 minutes.
¡°They took away cash around? Rs. 30 lakh and gold worth Rs 8 to Rs. 10 crore. Only a few packets containing gold are lying inside the bank. The exact worth of gold would be known once the audit report is tallied,¡± said Satya Pradhan, IIFL manager.
After being informed, the police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.?
¡°A special team has been formed to nab the culprits. We are examining CCTV footages,¡± an officer said.
However, according to a local media report, CCTV camera of the branch was not functional when the robbery took place.
