Whether it¡¯s the strictness to keep the copy mafia at bay or any other reason, 40,392 students have skipped on the ongoing UP Board exams till now. The examination had started on Friday and this figure also includes 20,674 students who didn¡¯t take the exam on the first day, as per the data released by UP Madhamik Siksha Parishad on Friday evening.?

¡°Around 40,392 candidates did not turn up to write their examinations. This is the number that we have tabulated after compiling students¡¯ attendance on the completion of first two days of the exams. We can¡¯t say exactly if it is due to strict measures put in place to put an end to copying,¡± Neena Srivastava, Secretary, UP Board was quoted by HT.
Last year too, a massive number of students had skipped the exam and as many as 10, 44, 619 students which accounts for 15 percent of the total students registered for exams didn¡¯t appear for it.
The Special Task Force (STF) has also been formed this year as well to keep copy mafia at bay from the examination centres and CM Yogi Adityanath has asked all district magistrates and inspectors of the schools to ensure that copying mafia doesn¡¯t get near to the examination centres.

For high school students, the agriculture exam was held along with music exam for intermediate students, the district inspectors of schools, Mukesh Kumar Singh told HT. Singh had also visited many schools and centres including Gandhi Inter College in Alambagh area.?
¡°Strict measures, including heavy deployment of police, have been put in place. Invigilation staff has been instructed to ensure that unfair means are not used. We are trying for the first time to hold examinations in 16 working days, which should be a record in itself. Sector and zonal magistrates at exam centres have also been deputed to check any untoward incident,¡± said Srivastava.
