3 instances of cyber crooks targeting pensioners have been reported from Western UP. The frauds have been reported from the districts of Ghaziabad and Meerut. The fraudsters have cheated pensioners of Rs 30 lakh in these cases.?
Meerut police's cyber crime cell is now handling the case as per a report in Hindi daily Hindustan.
In one case, police officials have learned that the money was withdrawn in Bihar.
Police believe bank personnel is also involved.
They say that it's possible that information like how much money was deposited in the account along with other data which is supposed to be confidential are leaked to cheats by the bank staff.??
On retirement, a decent amount of money is in the pensioners' account, said Meerut SP (Crime) Ram Arj and insisted that cops are doing what they can.
