Taking serious note of the 'communal' comments made by Yogi Adityanath and BSP supremo Mayawati the Election Commission has barred the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister from campaigning for the next three days.
Mayawati too was found to be violating the Model Code of Conduct and has been barred from the campaign for 48 hours. The two have also been "censured".

BJP's firebrand leader courted controversy for his comment that the election is a contest between "Ali" and "Bajrang Bali" implying that it was between Muslims and Hindus.
Mayawati was pulled up for her appeal to Muslim voters in Deoband not to split the votes and vote for the grand-alliance candidate.

The development came hours after the Supreme Court pulled up the Election Commission for not acting against hate speeches.?
Earlier too, the EC had come under criticism after it let off Yogi with an advisory for his Modiji ka Sena comment referring to the Indian Army.
The comment was criticized by military veteran and even Union Minister VK Singh who is himself an ex-Army Chief.
