In a shocking case from Maharashtra, a 17-year-old girl has filed a police complaint alleging that she was sold thrice by her father to multiple men over the last few years. The men, after buying her from her father, had repeatedly raped her, she said in her complaint.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against eight people including the minor girl¡¯s father, stepmother, three men who bought her and a female pimp.
The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
¡°The minor was recently rescued by her aunt ¨C her biological mother¡¯s sister ¨C and other relatives from a Satara-based man. The girl had managed to contact her aunt over the phone. Prima facie, it appears that the father would sell her to make money,¡± a report by The Times of India quoted Nanded additional superintendent of police Vijay Kabade as saying.
The minor girl's father, a casual labour, had first sold her off to? a man in Rajasthan¡¯s Kota with the help of a woman pimp.
The girl stayed in Kota for a month, where the man gave her sedative-laced drinks and repeatedly sexually assaulted her. Later, she took ill, following which she was sent back to Hadgaon.
The minor stated that after this, a 45-year-old man from Nandurbar agreed to buy her for Rs 2 lakh, on installment basis. He raped her for nearly eight months.
When he failed to pay the installments, she was brought back by her father. Soon, she was sold again to a man in Satara. The man allegedly raped her for several months until she was rescued by her aunt.
