A woman took time off work for a medical emergency, expecting her office to support her through a tough time. Instead, she was unexpectedly fired by her boss. Now, she¡¯s sharing her side of the story, sparking widespread outrage.
The woman took to Reddit to share her side of the story.?
A type one diabetic, she had to take time off from work because her insulin pump site had clogged and failed.
She explains on Reddit, "I made sure to message them as soon as I was sure that there was no chance of me going in, and really nothing to be done except try and avoid a hospital visit and hope that I didn¡¯t have like a seizure or something."
Sharing snapshots of her conversation with her boss, she revealed that the boss wrote in a message: "It doesn't sound like training is going to work out for you."
The boss further added that since a few of her belongings were left at the workplace, they packed and dropped them off at her home.
To this, the woman replied, "I didn't really realize that a dangerous night of blood sugars so high they could've put me in a hospital bed would be the end of working there. So yeah, I guess training is a no-go, but I won't pretend to appreciate the gesture of dropping off my things, as I think it's quite likely that you simply can't face the gross decision of firing somebody over a medical emergency, let alone look me in the eye afterwards."
She further added in the message, "If you had requested, I could have supplied a doctor's note or even just sent photos of my glucose readings if my state of health was simply too unbelievable for you to process. It's rather sad that you guys were so kind for such a short period of time; a mask typically is capable of lasting longer, especially since I wasn't even on the schedule today. I volunteered to come in and then happened to have an emergency."
