A week after the Ram Mandir was consecrated in Ayodhya, the city is still in news. But this time, that may not be for all the right reasons.?
A newly opened restaurant in Ayodhya, named Shabari restuarant, recently gained much flak on social media after issuing a bill of Rs 252 for just tea and toasts.?
Interestingly, Shabari is an elderly woman ascetic in the Hindu epic Ramayana who is known for first tasting berries in order to weed out the sour ones, before offering them to Lord Rama.?
The Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) took notice and issued a show-cause notice to the restaurant owner.?
A picture of the inflated bill of Shabari Rasoi went viral on social media.?
The bill shows a charge of Rs 110 for two cups of tea, and Rs 130 for two pieces of white toast.?
Shabari Rasoi is located at Arundhati Bhawan, which is a new multi-story building developed by ADA at Tehri Bazaar, which is near the Ram temple.?
According to ADA, this restaurant, categorised as budget-friendly, has committed under contract to offering a cup of tea and two slices of toast to devotees and pilgrims at the rate of Rs 10 each.?
The restaurant also has a 100-bed dormitory where a bed can be rented at Rs 50 for a night.?
TOI quoted the ADA vice-chairman Vishal Singh as saying, "To ensure that the facilities are available to the devotees here at lowest rates, we made a contract arrangement with the vendors wherein reasonable rates for dormitory, parking and food were already finalized by the authority in the agreement with vendors."?
Project head of Shabari Rasoi restaurant in Ayodhya, Satyendra Mishra mentioned that the restaurant is owned by the Ahmedabad-based company M/s Kavach Facility Management.?
"Making the bill viral on social media is a conspiracy as people here want to drink and eat for free. We are providing facilities similar to those in big hotels. As far as the authority's notice is concerned, a reply has been given from our side," he added.??
