It comprises eight states ¨C Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Apart from the other regions of the country, this particular part of the country doesn't necessarily get the attention it deserves but of late that has been changing for the good.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is an integral part of our country's paramilitary forces. Every now and then, CISF personnel put the country first than themselves. In yet another instance of putting others before them, a 32-year-old CISF jawan from Assam, Biraj Hazarika, has decided to set up the north-eastern state's first-ever food and clothes bank using his own hard-earned money in Sivasagar district, a report in the Times of India stated.
Biraj hails from Dalgaon in Darrang district and he has been donating food and clothes to the needy people at all the places he has served so far.
Children are one of the purest souls we can imagine and the following proves so. A little boy from Mizoram accidentally ran over his neighbour chicken. The guilt-ridden boy took whatever money he had and rushed to a nearby hospital. The picture shared by a Facebook user immediately went viral with more than 50,000 shares. The boy's expression will literally melt your heart.
After his story went viral, his school recognised the wonderful gesture and received a 'Word of Appreciation' certificate.

Lachung - a small town in Sikkim - has forbidden the entry of disposable mineral water bottles. This might just be one of the most successful plastic bottle bans of the country, and there is a very good reason for it. This campaign of sorts, is being run almost entirely by locals, and cab drivers who regularly ferry people to and from the place. While the government has put up signboards to inform people about the ban, it is the local people of the area who are making sure that it does not become just another rule that no one bothers to follow.
