There is a story circulating on social media, as reported by News18, about a woman who kickstarted her mushroom business right from her own bedroom. Apparently, she's already gained a considerable customer base.
With support from the government, she has been receiving free seeds, polythene bags, and chemicals, all of which have greatly facilitated her business operations.
Identified as Nisha from Matihani 1 Panchayat, she underwent a five-day training program at the Agricultural Science Center in the Gusa district of Bihar before venturing into her entrepreneurial journey.?
Due to lack of land, Nisha ingeniously decided to utilise her bedroom space for mushroom cultivation, seizing the opportunity at hand.
Nisha uses a traditional method to cultivate mushrooms in her room.?
She treats wheat straws and leaves with a chemical called Bavistin fungicide, allowing them to soak for 12 hours and then drying them in the shade for 15 hours.?
After this preparation, she fills polythene bags with a mix of chaff and seeds, seals them into packets, and suspends them in her bedroom.?
To maintain the right temperature for mushroom growth, she ensures ventilation with a fan and regularly sprays water using a sprinkler.
Nisha mentioned that the entire process of mushroom production spans approximately 30 days. She noted that in her village, mushrooms fetch a price of Rs 200 per kilogram.
Thus, through her mushroom cultivation, she has been able to generate an income of around Rs 2000 per day.
