For the unversed, OnlyFans is a social media platform where creators earn money by sharing exclusive content with their subscribers. While it started with diverse content creators, it's now particularly famous for adult content.
A New York Post report highlights a growing trend of high-profile Olympic athletes joining OnlyFans.?
Among them is British diver Jack Laugher, who is competing at the 2024 Paris Games.?
Laugher created a buzz by launching his OnlyFans account, where he charges $10 per month for access to his content.?
"Obviously, I've got what people want," the 29-year-old diver told The Telegraph. "I'll happily cash in on that. I'm a bit of a hustler and I want a bit more money if I can."
Laugher views the platform as a way to supplement his income, which he describes as modest. "The funding hasn't changed [in years]," he said. "I'm top three in the world, and it is ?28,000 [USD $36,000] a year."?
On his OnlyFans page, Laugher shares "SFW [safe for work] content in speedos, briefs, boxer and more!" and offers followers the chance to personally interact with him.
Several of Laugher's teammates are also exploring content creation on the platform.?
Noah Williams, 24, Daniel Goodfellow, 27, and Matty Lee, 26, have launched their own OnlyFans accounts, sharing non-explicit content.?
Lee, who charges $20 per month, emphasises on his page, "Remember I'm a Team GB diver not a P [p**nstar]. So everything will be SFW and a place where I can interact with you all."
In New Zealand, rower Robbie Manson has joined the trend with an account featuring "exclusive content that tastefully explores the boundaries, including artistic portrayals of nudity."
The platform has also become a financial lifeline for some retired Olympians. Former short-track speed skater Elise Christie has credited her OnlyFans account with "saving her life" after she retired three years ago.
After all, with medals on the line and bills to pay, a little extra income never hurts!
