Anti-Romeo squads were recently formed in the state of Uttar Pradesh to keep a check on eve-teasers. However, the squad came under the scanner for harassing couples. After the negative feedback and backlash, the police personnel who are also a part of the squad, will be trained on how to spot a ¡®romeo¡¯.
A report in NDTV quotes senior police officer Navneet Sikera as saying, ¡°Suppose a boy and girl are sitting together and chatting. Is that harassment? No. But suppose the girl draws a line and says I don¡¯t want to chat more and the boy persists, that is harassment¡±.

¡°So if a boy and girl are sitting together that does not require intervention. But if you see a girl looking uncomfortable¡ and we as policemen are trained to spot this¡ then, we will intervene,¡± he adds.
Sikera has been assigned the task of training the police officials on how to spot a Romeo.
According to UP Police, training session will take place twice every week and each batch of cops will have 50 cops, including women.
