The Uttar Pradesh Police may have seen all kinds of criminals behind bars in their jails but weren't prepared for an unusual inmate spotted in a jail in Ghaziabad District. Cops at the Madhuban Bapudham police station in UP's Ghaziabad were left shocked on Thursday when a venomous black cobra was found inside one of the lockups there.
A sweeper found the black cobra in a corner of the lockup, which thankfully was not occupied at the time. In a video that has gone viral on social media, the cobra can be seen with a raised hood, coiled among some discarded disposable glasses.

In the video, some voices can be heard trying to chase it away, while someone else can be heard warning others not to get closer to the cobra.
The tense episode ended with the intervention of the Forest Department, who, after being alerted by the cops, rushed to the police station and rescued the cobra. According to the Forest Department, the juvenile cobra was rescued from the lockup and released into the Dasna jungle.
Cops said that the cobra could have taken shelter inside the lockup after being chased by a group of people from a nearby area.?
While this particular incident ended event-free, the presence of poisonous snakes close to humans is a matter of concern during the monsoons.?

It is very common for snakes to slither into residential areas or take shelter inside vehicles to escape the rains. Wildlife experts say that one should not leave items, including shoes and helmets, outside during the rainy season, as snakes could find them a comfortable shelter.
