Two tourists from Haryana were arrested by the Police in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh for allegedly threatening and assaulting a temple priest.
The two men identified as Abhishek Kumar and Kuldeep Singh, both residents of Bhiwani district of Haryana were arrested on Wednesday on the complaint of the priest of the famous Hatu Mata Temple.
According to Kanwar Bhupendra Singh, the head of Hatu Mata Temple Committee, the temple had organized special prayers on the occasion of Durgashtami.
Around 3 pm, there was a sound of gunshots from the main gate of the temple, and Lalit Sharma, the priest found the two men, reportedly intoxicated opening fire in the air with their pistols.
When Sharma tried to stop them, the two men got into an argument with the priest and even assaulted him.
They also allegedly threatened and misbehaved with other devotees in the temple.?
The priest who managed to escape alerted the police and before the two men could flee, the temple authorities with the help of other devotees stopped them and handed them over to the cops.
According to reports, the two men were part of an 8-member group that had come to the temple from Haryana.
Police said they have recovered 12 bullets and licensed guns from the duo.
DSP Rampur Chandrashekhar Kayathsaid that the tourists who opened fire have been arrested on the complaint of the temple committee and an FIR has been registered against them.
