The body of?Vijay Kumar Gaud, a native?Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand who has been missing in Turkey following the devastating earthquake?was recovered by the search team on Saturday.?
The body of Kumar who had been missing since Monday was found under the rubble of the Avsar Hotel, a four-star facility in Malatya, in the eastern Anatolia region of Turkey where he was staying since reaching the country on January 23.
His family in India has reportedly identified?the body, from tattoo on his left hand.? ?
The body was found a day after there were renewed hopes to find him alive.?On Friday?rescue workers cleared the rubble?of the hotel where he was staying and found Kumar's passport and other belongings.??
Kumar was sent to Turkey on an official assignment by his Bengaluru-based employer OxyPlant India for the execution and commissioning of a dissolved acetylene gas plant for a gas supply company there.??
According to his brother, Arun Kumar Gaud, also employed in the same company, Kumar was to return to India on February 20.
"His phone rings, but no one responds," Vijay Kumar Gaud's elder brother Arun Kumar Gaud had told PTI.
He said that the family talked to Kumar last on February 5, a day before the quake.
The?Ministry of External Affairs?on Wednesday said an Indian was missing and 10 others were stuck but safe in remote regions of Turkey.
India and several other countries and Turkish rescue teams are working round the clock to look for survivors of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria early Monday.
