Ousted BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh Kuldeep Singh Sengar and brother have been convicted in the death of the father of the Unnao rape complainant.The Tis Hazari Court in Delhi held Senger and six others guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder for the custodial death two years ago.?

However, despite the postmortem revealing horrific custodial torture, district judge Dharmesh Sharma said Sengar had no intention of killing the victimĄ¯s father.Ą°He was beaten in a brutal manner that led to his death,Ąą the judge said.?
Sengar is already serving jail for the "remainder of his natural biological life" for raping the woman in 2017 when she was a minor.The former BJP strongman is also accused of trying to murder the rape complainant after a truck rammed into the car she was travelling in with some family members and her lawyer. Two of her aunts died in the incident. She was airlifted from a hospital in Lucknow and to AIIMS in Delhi.?
The family had alleged that Senger had threatened to eliminate them if they went ahead with the case.Ever since the case surfaced the BJP was accused of trying to shield the 53-year-old four-time MLA.It was only in August 2019, after facing massive public and political outrage, the BJP finally suspended and later expelled him from the party.?
Despite the expulsion, he allegedly enjoys the party's backing, with even Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj visiting him in jail to thank Sengar for his support in the election.Another BJP MLA Ashish Singh Ashu, the lawmaker from Hardoi had openly supported him and said that Senger was going through tough times and expressed hope that he will come out soon.
