In an alleged case of gangrape and murder, a middle-aged woman in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh was subjected to sheer brutality.
A 50-year-old Aanganwadi worker was gangraped and murdered near a temple on January 3, say reports.
An autopsy has revealed that an iron rod was inserted into the woman's private parts.
Village locals alleged that around 12am, a car rider and two other men escaped, leaving the woman bleeding. She died later that night.
Family members of the deceased woman have alleged that the? police station officer of Ughaiti, Ravendra Pratap Singh, did not reach the spot even after the complaint. The body was sent for postmortem 18 hours after the incident.
The postmortem revealed that the woman's legs and ribs were broken while her lungs were attacked with a heavy object.
Police have registered a case of gangrape and have formed four teams to catch the accused, including a priest.
No arrests have been made yet.
