In a shocking incident, a man and his nephew were shot dead, while his teenage son was injured in a shooting in Delhi on Thursday. Akash Sharma and his nephew, Rishabh Sharma, were shot dead outside their house in Delhi's Shahdara while celebrating Diwali.
Sharma and his nephew, 16-year-old Rishabh, were celebrating Diwali and preparing to burst firecrackers when a person approached them on a two-wheeler.
CCTV footage from the spot showed the person riding the two-wheeler touching Sharma's feet before another assailant, who was standing nearby, opened fire on him.
The two assailants then attempted to flee on the scooter, at which point Rishabh tried to stop them but was also shot. Sharma's 10-year-old son, Krish Sharma, was also injured in the firing.
The three were rushed to a hospital, where Akash and Rishabh were declared dead, while Krish is undergoing treatment.
According to the police, the murder resulted from personal enmity stemming from a financial dispute. Police said that the prime suspect, the 16-year-old seen riding the two-wheeler, has been detained.
The police stated that the accused had planned the murder 17 days earlier. Family members of the victims said there was an ongoing dispute over money between the deceased and the accused.
"One man named Lakshay had been visiting our lane for the past three or four days. Yesterday, he came to our house with a box of sweets and urged me to come downstairs to receive it personally. At the time when my son was preparing to burst firecrackers, two people, including Lakshay, came, and then I heard shots being fired. Next, I saw that my son was shot," said the mother of the deceased.
