The Delhi Police has arrested a missing accused in the shootout that resulted in the death of one person in a Burger King restaurant outlet in Delhi's Rajouri Garden in June. The accused, identified as Annu Dhankar, was arrested from near the Indo-Nepal border in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh.?
According to police, Dhankar, a resident of Rohtak, Haryana, is known as 'Lady Don' in the criminal circles and a proclaimed offender. Dhankar had fled from her PG accommodation in Delhi's Mukherji Nagar soon after the murder and was planning to go to the US via Dubai when she was apprehended.?
The 19-year-old had emerged as a key suspect in the murder of Aman Joon, who was shot dead by two gunmen inside the Burger King restaurant in Rajouri Garden. Aman, who was hit by over 30 bullets, died on the spot. During the investigation, it emerged that he was lured to the restaurant by a woman, who fled the scene immediately after the shootout.?
Police also found that the murder was the result of a gang rivalry. Fugitive gangster Himanshu Bhau had claimed responsibility for the murder and said that Aman was involved in the killing of Shakti Singh, a cousin of jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana, who was shot dead in Haryana's Jhajjar in October 2020.?
According to the police, Dhankar had lured Aman through social media and had invited him to the restaurant. Dhankar had also informed Himanshu Bhau that Aman was coming to meet her at Burger King the day he was shot dead.?Police said that Dhankar was also involved in the incident of indiscriminate firing at the Matu Ram Halwai Shop, in Gohana.?
Dhankar, who fled Delhi after the shootout, first went to Jalandhar by train and then to Haridwar by bus via Chandigarh. Earlier this week, she had been told by the gang that she could go to the US via Dubai, and Dhankar was trying to cross into Nepal when she was caught.
