Police in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan have arrested three people from Bengaluru in connection with the death of a biker in the city in 2018.
According to the police, the biker, Asbak Mon a native of Kerala had gone to Jaisalmer for the India-Baja Motorsports Rally in August 2018, along with his wife Sumera Parvez and a couple of friends.
On August 16 they had ventured out into the desert for a practice session with their bikes, and according to Asbak's wife he lost his way and it was suspected that he died of dehydration.
But three years later, the Jaisalmer Police on September 22 arrested two of his friends, Sanjay and Vishwas from Bengaluru on charges of murder in connection with the death, which was initially thought to be of natural causes.
According to the police, at least three more people, including Asbak's wife Sumera and three friends Neeraj, Sabik and Santosh were involved in the conspiracy to kill him.
Though Sumera and Asbak's friends did not file any complaint on his death, the cops began investigating the case after the mother and family members of the 34-year-old alleged foul play in his death.
They had alleged that the autopsy had mentioned an injury on his back, which the police did not take into account initially as Sumera and others who were with him in Jaisalmer did not raise any suspicion over his death.
However, during the probe, the activities of Sumera and Asbak's friends came under scrutiny and police concluded that the biker was killed by them.
Jaisalmer SP Ajay Singh said he found the roles of Sumera and Sanjay suspicious. After a thorough probe, sleuths concluded that the biker had been murdered after meticulous planning and registered a case against Sumera and his five friends.
Police said Asbak had numerous disputes with his wife on several issues. He earlier used to reside in Dubai before shifting to RT Nagar in Bengaluru.
On the day of the murder, Sanjay was the first to reach the spot and took away?Asbak¡¯s mobile and other items, the SP added.
After obtaining proof of the murder, arrest warrants were issued against Sanjay and others. The investigation officer went to Bengaluru and Kerala in search of the accused, who went underground.
Later, another police team went to Bengaluru, arrested Sanjay and Vishwas and brought both to Jaisalmer. The duo was sent to judicial custody.
