The price of domestic liquid petroleum gas cylinders on Wednesday was hiked by Rs 50 per cylinder.
With this, non-subsidised LPG will now cost Rs 1,053 per 14.2 kg cylinder in Delhi, according to a price notification of oil companies.
In Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai, it will be priced at Rs 1,079, Rs 1,052.5, and Rs 1,068.5, respectively, the Indian Oil Corporation said.?
The price of 5kg domestic cylinder has also increased by Rs 18/cylinder, while the price of 19kg commercial cylinder has decreased by Rs 8.50.
In metros such as Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai, a cylinder will now cost Rs 2,012.50, Rs 2,132.00 Rs 1,972.50, Rs 2,177.50.
Non-subsidised LPG rate is the one that common household users pay.
This is the third time since May that the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been hiked by petroleum companies.
Previously, the prices for domestic cylinders were increased by Rs 4 on May 19, 2022.?
Before that, on May 7 the price was increased by Rs 50 per cylinder.
There was also a Rs 50 hike in March this year.
LPG prices have gone up by Rs 244 per cylinder since June 2021. Of this, Rs 153.50 increase happened since March 2022.
At that time, the government also stated that Rs 200 per cylinder subsidy on cooking gas will be limited to only 9 crore poor women and other beneficiaries who got free connections under the Ujjwala scheme and the remaining users including households will pay the market price.
Originally, non-subsidised cooking gas was the one that consumers used to buy after exhausting their quota of 12 cylinders at subsidised or below-market rates. However, the government stopped paying subsidy on LPG to households in mid-2020.
