The 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya witnessed an emotional moment as 85-year-old Saraswati Devi from Jharkhand, known as 'mauni mata' (silent mother), broke her 30-year vow of silence.
In a touching video, Saraswati Devi, an ardent devotee of Lord Ram, uttered her first words, expressing a heartfelt "Jai Sri Ram." This significant event took place during the consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol.
Saraswati Devi had maintained absolute silence since the early 1990s, symbolising her devotion to Lord Ram and her deep desire for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Saraswati Devi, a resident of Karmatand village in Jharkhand's Dhanbad, had briefly broken her vow of silence before 2020, speaking for an hour at noon every day.
However, she chose to go completely silent on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation of the Ram Temple in 2020. Her recent decision to break the 30-year vow during the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at the Ram Temple brought joy, anticipation, and excitement to her family and devotees.
The Ram Temple trust extended a special invitation to Saraswati Devi and her family to attend the grand consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple on January 22. In a note scribbled on a piece of paper, Saraswati Devi expressed that during her vow of silence, she visited several sacred places, including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Tirupati Balaji, and Baba Baidyanath Dham, dedicating years to her devotion to Lord Ram.
She also expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. She referred to the Prime Minister as 'Dashrath' (Lord Ram's father) and the Chief Minister as 'Vasistha' (a saint in Ramayana).
