3 Friends, Meeting Up For A Party, Freeze To Death In Backyard In US
In a tragic incident, three men were found dead in the backyard of their friend¡¯s home while meeting up for a party.
What happened on the night of their deaths??
Ricky Johnson (38), David Harrington (37) and Clayton McGeeney¡¯s (36) bodies were discovered on January 9, two days after they gathered at their friend Jordan Willis' home to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game on January 7. McGeeney¡¯s fianc¨¦ went looking for him and called the police when she saw him dead on Willis¡¯ back porch.
They were found outside the rental home of Jordan Willis. Willis¡¯ attorney John Picerno has told US news media outlets that his client had no idea that the men froze to death outside.
On January 7, CNN Weather reported that Kansas City experienced a high of approximately 2.8¡ãC, a low of approximately -1.7¡ãC, and trace amounts of rain and snow. By the early morning of the 8th, temperatures hovered around freezing, accompanied by some snowfall.
Picerno said his client slept for nearly 48 hours after the game and only learned that the bodies were there when police visited the home for a welfare check after families of the three now-deceased men called them after calls and text messages went unanswered for over two days.
¡°There¡¯s no allegation of any animosity between Jordan and his three friends,¡± Picerno said of the trio, two of whom he¡¯d known since his high school days.
What has the friend who rented the home said about their deaths?
Willis has not spoken publicly about the case, but Picerno has given statements on his behalf. After the police arrived, Picerno said Willis ¡°allowed them into the house, told them all he knew, and voluntarily consented to a search of his home.¡±According to Picerno, all Willis wants is ¡°answers.¡± The attorney told NewsNation, ¡°He¡¯s known them for over 20 years. They¡¯re his friends. He¡¯s deeply hurt by their passing.¡±??
Investigation is underway
¡°(Police officers) responded to the back porch and confirmed there was a dead body. Upon further investigation, officers located two other dead bodies in the backyard,¡± a police statement said. The police said they acted after they received a call from the fiancee of one of the three dead men. The police also said that Willis was cooperative.
According to a separate report by the New York Post, a fifth person was present at the watch party. Identified as Alex Weamer-Lee, he recounted to the newspaper that when he departed, all four individuals were still watching television.
The Kansas City Police Department said they do not suspect foul play as detectives await autopsy and toxicology reports.Two weeks after the deaths the mystery continues to puzzle the Kansas City community.
