For those of a certain age residing in urban areas in India, it's likely that they know individuals, or perhaps a substantial number of them, who are pursuing overseas studies. Both before and after the pandemic, a significant portion of the younger population ventured to countries such as the US, the UK, and Canada for educational purposes.
In November last year, Canada introduced a new regulation granting international students in the country exemption from the 20-hour work limit. It essentially meant that students who had applied for a study permit could work off-campus for unlimited hours. However, this regulation is approaching its end.
Across Canada, the rule would only apply until December 31, 2023.
The Canadian government hasn't yet specified why the rule is coming to an end.

Only if you met these conditions would you be permitted to work unlimited hours in Canada. This rule, sadly, though, is nearing its end. Many students work multiple jobs while they're studying to support themselves and their dependents, if any.?
Students and their employers must ensure that they can work off campus without a work permit before they start working. If students start working off campus but don't meet the conditions and eligibility requirements, they may have to leave Canada.
