The Hindu community in Canada is continuing its protest over the violent disruption of an Indian consular camp at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton by pro-Khalistani groups. Over a thousand Canadian Hindus protested on the streets on Monday against the ongoing attacks on their places of worship.
"What is happening to Hindu Canadians is not right. The time has come for all politicians here to know that what is happening with Hindu Canadians is wrong...We want Canada to treat Hindus well...We want India and Canada relations to strengthen, we are against those who are against this," a protester was quoted as saying by ANI.
While the protests continue, native Canadians are raising concerns over the country's liberal immigration policies that have resulted in mass migration of people from non-Western nations, including India, which has led to unprecedented scenes on their streets.
Harrison Faulkner, a Canadian journalist, shared several videos from the protest, showing the chaos on the streets.
"Wild scenes happening now where a crowd of Hindus have blocked traffic and started chanting down and intimidating local police officers," Faulkner captioned one of his videos.
"Only four police officers having to stare down a crowd of thousands of Indian Hindu protesters accusing them of being soft on Khalistani extremism. Things are getting very tense in Brampton," he stated while sharing another video.
He also shared videos of the protesting crowd blocking traffic and even attempting to attack passing cars.
Many native Canadians reacted with shock to the videos and said this is the new reality of the country. They also blamed the government for failing in its migration policy.
On Sunday, Brampton had become the scene of yet another Khalistani protest, where protesters carrying Khalistani flags clashed with people at the Hindu Sabha Temple and disrupted a consular event co-organised by the temple authorities and the Indian Consulate.
