Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office on Saturday said that a drone was launched toward his private residence in the city of Caesarea. According to the PM's office, Netanyahu and his wife were not at the location, and there were no injuries in the incident.
Earlier, the Israeli military had confirmed that a barrage of projectiles was fired from Lebanon into northern Israel, and a drone had "hit a structure" in the central Israeli town.
It was not immediately clear whether the structure reported hit by the military earlier was his private residence.
Saturday's drone attacks by the Lebanon-based Hezbollah are the most serious provocation by the militia, against whom Israel is involved in a ground and air offensive.
This was also the biggest response by any anti-Israel militia since the killing of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, who was eliminated in a gun battle on Wednesday.
Both Hezbollah and Hamas are reeling under a leadership crisis, as in recent weeks Israel has managed to assassinate the top commanders of the two outfits.
On Friday, Hamas acknowledged the death of Sinwar, who had been leading the outfit since July this year, when its previous leader was killed.
Hamas, however, refused to back down and rejected the Israeli demand to release the hostages to end the ongoing conflict.
Hamas's main backer, Iran, also said that Sinwar's death will not affect its 'axis of resistance.'
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Saturday that Hamas would live on even after the death of Sinwar.
"His loss is undoubtedly painful for the Axis of Resistance, but this front did not cease advancing with the martyrdom of prominent figures. Hamas is alive and will remain alive," Khamenei said in a statement.
Khamenei also lauded Sinwar, the architect of the October 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel.
"With wisdom and courage, he dealt them the irreparable blow of October 7 that has been recorded in the history of this region. Then, with honour and pride, he ascended to the heavens of the martyrs," he said.
