Japan had a challenging beginning to the year, marked by a plane collision at the Tokyo airport on Tuesday and a series of earthquakes posing tsunami risks in the west of the archipelago the day before.
However, amidst these incidents, Disneyland actors caught the attention as they were filmed staying completely in character, providing some unexpected entertainment for park visitors preparing for an earthquake.
In one of the videos captured at the theme park, Disneyland actors can be seen exhibiting both bravery and care for visitors by squatting on the ground, guiding the tourists, and joining them in seeking shelter from potential danger.
As the ground shook, the characters in costume at the park ¨C Daisy, Eeyore, Goofy, Donald and even Minnie Mouse ¨C not only took safety measures themselves but also made efforts to pacify and comfort the visitors present.
Another clip was shot by Jason Hill, a Disney and travel enthusiast who visited Disneyland's Tokyo park earlier this week.Dozens of park visitors can be seen crouching next to shops and attractions as an announcer urged people to "prepare for a strong earthquake."
Amid the tense crowds, our heroic actor, dressed in an Eeyore suit, attempted to calm visitors down while bobbing up and down in character.Hill's clip has since gone viral, with over 14 million views on Instagram, and was flooded with praise for the actor's dedication.
Users on Instagram showered heavy praise in the comments section. One of them said, ¡°Japan really got it down. The rest of the world needs to follow.¡± Acknowledging the emotional moment, another posted, ¡°This made me cry. It¡¯s such a scary situation and they were so kind to try to keep everyone calm.¡±
A user wrote, ¡°Tokyo disney cast members deserve all the respect not just for customer service but for going above and beyond even in a literal crisis¡±, while another one commented, ¡°Eyeore being the most depressed character comforting everyone during an earthquake is probably the most wholesome thing in 2024 so far.¡±¡°This is why I love Japan in general! Despite actors being dressed up as Disney characters, they still chose to keep the kids safe even if they need to break character to do so,¡± a fifth user commented.
The 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Japan Sea coast on Monday, flattening towns on the remote Noto peninsula.More than 120 people have been confirmed dead, and 200 are missing, according to BBC.
