You may have often heard the term 'delulu is the solulu' which has been all over the Internet for quite some time. This popular Gen Z phrase basically means that delusion is the solution to all your problems. But for this man in China diagnosed with delusional love disorder, being delulu became his life¡¯s biggest problem!
Liu, a 20-year-old second-year university student from Jiangsu province in eastern China, recently received a diagnosis of delusional love disorder.?
This condition causes him to believe that all his female classmates have romantic feelings for him.
"All the girls in school like me," Liu confidently told Lu Zhenjiao, a doctor from Huai¡¯an No.3 People¡¯s Hospital.
"He thinks that he's the best-looking guy in the university," Lu shared with Litchi News.
Liu's delusion is so strong that he interprets any negative responses from females he approaches as mere shyness.?
His behavior has also changed significantly, with him staying up all night, being unable to concentrate in class, and spending money recklessly.
But now, with psychotherapy and drug treatments, he is finally in recovery.
Erotomania is a rare condition where someone believes that another person is in love with them, even when there's no evidence for it.?
People with this disorder may struggle to understand social cues correctly.
Also known as de Cl¨¦rambault syndrome, common traits of people with erotomania include feeling low self-esteem, rejected, or lonely, and having trouble seeing things from others' perspectives.
The condition is often seen in spring, possibly due to changes in hormone levels caused by the weather. When the condition sets in, patients may become hyperactive, talkative, and may have an increased interest in sex.
Experts aren't sure why it happens, but it's often linked to low self-esteem or stress. Social media can make these delusions worse for some people.?
