Police have taken almost 1,400 people into custody across 17 cities in USA as protests continue over George Floyd's death.
Floyd died on May 25 in Minnesota when an officer of the law put his knee on his neck for over 8 minutes. The officer was detained on May 29 and a charge of third-degree murder has been made.?
But the arrest has not been able to stop the protests all over the country. Many have been peaceful, but some have turned violent.?
According to AP, at least 1,383 people have been arrested since May 28.?
Floyd's death went viral when the video of the officer putting pressure on his neck started doing THE rounds on social media.?
Despite protests from onlookers and pleas from Floyd himself, his neck was not released until he was put on the gurney.?
The incident sparked a huge backlash as it joined a long list of white officers showing excessive force on an unarmed black suspect. It is not the first fatal incident either. ??
