Several people are going to Kazakhstan's Almaty despite the harsh weather to look at a 45-foot 'ice volcano'which has taken form naturally as per a report in TNN.?
In fact, it was formed over an underground spring that spouts water which freezes then and there. This builds into the cone design of the 'ice volcano'.?
As soon as the news went viral, tourists flocked to the site.??
It is located between 2 villages - Kegan and Shrganak. From the capital Nur-Sultan, it is 4 hours away.
Believe it or not, this is not the first ice volcano created by the underground spring. A small volcano did form in 2020. But this one is the first that keeps on spraying water particles from the top opening, according to the locals.?
For some weeks now, locals and others from outside have been coming to Almaty to see the anomaly.?
"In general, this is artesian water that gushes out of the ground. In summer everything blooms here with greenery," said a local.?
¡°And with the arrival of winter, on the eve of the New Year, it [the iceberg] increases to 14 meters and creates a beautiful location for great shots. It happened that my friends and I came to the 'iceberg' to celebrate the New Year,¡± he added.?
A similar-looking structure was seen near Lake Michigan, USA in 2020.
