As the race for the White House intensifies ahead of the November presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump are pulling out all the stops to garner support. Among those rallying behind Harris is Indian-American entrepreneur and Democratic Party fundraiser Ajay Jain Bhutoria, who recently launched a Hindi music video, "Nacho Nacho," encouraging South Asians to vote for Harris.
Performed by Bollywood singer Shibani Kashyap and produced by Ritesh Parikh, the video aims to connect with the diverse South Asian-American community, as reported by news agency PTI.
Bhutoria shared the video on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, expressing his excitement: "Excited to share the release of our new music video, ¡®Nacho Nacho,¡¯ supporting @VP Kamala Harris for President! Let¡¯s mobilize and turn out the South Asian vote in key battleground states.¡±
The video features clips of Harris at various events, while her supporters urge people to cast their vote in the upcoming elections.
In a statement to PTI, Bhutoria emphasised the importance of the South Asian-American vote, stating, "With over 4.4 million Indian-Americans and 6 million South Asians eligible to vote, our goal is to help propel Vice President Kamala Harris to victory in 2024. The video transcends language and cultural barriers, resonating with voters in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Bengali and more.¡±
Bhutoria highlighted Harris¡¯s alignment with values of diversity and unity, adding, ¡°Bollywood has always been about breaking barriers and telling stories that unite us. Kamala Harris embodies that same vision ¨C bringing people together and championing a future where diversity is our greatest strength. Her journey is a story we all believe in.¡±
This is not the first time Bhutoria has used creative outreach to engage the Indian-American community during an election. In 2020, he and his wife, Vinita Bhutoria, launched a music video supporting Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The couple, based in Silicon Valley, started the video with the slogan: ¡°America Ka Neta Kaisa Ho: Jo Biden Jaisa Ho.¡±
