US President Joe Biden turned 82 years old on Wednesday. Biden, who has less than two months left in office, has had a tumultuous term as president, taking charge of a country still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic and amid an insurrection.??
Throughout his term in office, Biden was known to be soft-spoken, but this doesn't mean that he couldn't assert himself when it was needed.??
The most notable such instance was on the day of his inauguration itself. Biden assumed office on 6 January 2020, amid an insurrection by Trump supporters who refused to accept the election result. In his inaugural speech, Biden focused on the struggles that Americans were facing and promised to ¡°fight as hard for those who did not support me as for those who did.¡±??
Less than a year into office, Biden had to oversee the US troop pullout from Afghanistan, a decision that his predecessor Trump had made. The day after the US troops left Afghanistan, ending the 20-year-long war, Biden addressed the nation, where he defended the decision to end the longest war in American history. He also termed the evacuation from Afghanistan an "extraordinary success."??
Biden delivered a strong speech on the first anniversary of the January 6 insurrection, calling out his predecessor's ¡°web of lies¡± and highlighting the need for unity. ¡°You cannot love your country only when you win,¡± he said, without naming Trump.??
However, not all of Biden's speeches are known for how well the US president was able to articulate himself. In fact, towards the end of his term, Biden's speeches started becoming infamous for being incoherent.??
In July, just before he dropped out of the presidential race, Biden had fumbled so much, calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ¡°President Putin¡± and Vice President Kamala Harris ¡°Vice President Trump.¡±??
